flooding around Pelican crossings
I did a search and your site came up in relation to flooding around pelican crossings. I have one outside my house and since they dammed the road by raising the pavement and building a platform into the road my property has been flooded every time there is heavy rain. They say there is nothing wrong with the design and blame Severn Trent and tree roots! However, any idiot can see that they have stopped the natural flow of water down the road thereby causing the water to be redirected onto my property. I am searching for other examples of this and wondered if they have built a platform on the crossings you show. Regards, Jo Warwick.

Election time!!! should be Rejection time
I wrote a reply to an email I had from Peter Hain, so I thought I would forward it to you,
the first section is the email from Peter Hain,
I would like your views please.
Dear Friend,
Recently Welsh Labour held its annual conference in Swansea and I am writing to
let you know the key points from my speech.
"Wales is at risk, Wales in is danger.
"Yes, the Tories want'change' alright: but change for the worse, not change for the better.
Tories taking the country backwards, Labour taking us forward.
This is a real time of choice for everyone. A choice in the coming election for every parent who drops their child off at school, nervous at what the future will hold.
A choice for every public sector worker afraid of savage Tory cuts, a choice for every business person struggling to survive, a choice for every family worried about paying their mortgage in an age of insecurity... a choice
for every young person wanting a job, a choice for every pensioner, trying to
make ends meet.
"A big choice for Wales which is just weeks away. The big choice, the outcome of which will be momentous for everything we value in Wales.
If we got a Tory Government, everything we have become accustomed to will be thrown into turmoil:
free prescriptions, free bus travel for older people, free breakfasts in primary
schools, tax-free winter fuel payments to pensioners.
"We enter this general election campaign as the underdogs, standing up to save Wales from the disaster of a Tory Government again.
Peter Hain

Now the thing is Peter,
Will you actually get to read this or will you be shown only what your secretary
vets for you, and if you do get to read it, will you indeed read it all???
We will see.
Your biggest battle at the moment is not the Tories, but the entire working
population, and that is the battle all the parties have. (which I have no preference over what so ever)
You see over the years I have learnt that it makes very little difference to the man in the street who is in power, its basically the same bull, Just a different colour rosette.
But I have to admit I loved your closing line in your email............
"We enter this general election campaign as the underdogs, standing up to save Wales from the disaster of a Tory Government again."
WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS PETER???
The man in the street has been suffering, in BIBLICAL proportions, and I must add, THROUGH NO FAULT OF HIS OWN.
When Joe public applies for a job, he will only get that job if he is suitably
qualified and the employer is happy that he is capable of carrying out the work, correct???
Just hold that thought.
Why is it that when the man in the street miss manages his finances, he is usually given a poor credit rating, his own bank then starts to grind him down further with late payment charges, a £35 letter to say he has missed a payment, then he has interest added to the interest he is already paying, which does
nothing but push him deeper in debt, as this nightmare spirals out of control, he invariably ends up in front of a magistrate, as the Bank or Building Society say they have had enough, and take his house off him, the general consensus is usually, unlucky, but you should have been more careful with your money.
Now lets reverse the roles slightly.
Joe Public is working, counting the pennies trying to keep up with his payments,
taxes, etc. etc. etc. to make ends meet, the very same bank that took away the man in the streets house because he got into debt, has basically got into debt
themselves, but that's ok, they will get bailed out by the government, the very
same government that set out their rules and regulations to punish the man in the street for getting into debt.
So the bank, (who buy the way, the man in the street and his mate Joe public own) have debts to pay............ WRONG!!!
The government tell the bank, don't worry, I'll make the man in the street and Joe public pay it for you, and while I'm at it, Ill award you nice big bonuses for all the work the man in the street and his mate Joe public have caused you with their debts.
So Joe public tries to get more overtime to pay his bills and keep his house, and his mate, the man in the street tries to settle into his new address.............

Don't forget now Peter, these are the happy bunnies that you want to vote for you.....
Best of luck.

P.S. I nearly forgot to mention the poor guy who was in charge of the bank who
left because he was so well qualified and professional at his job he lost in excess of £25 BILLION
Yes that's right,
TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND MILLION POUNDS.
But please lets not worry too much over his well fair, it wasn't really his fault for one of the biggest Banking blunders in British Banking history, because he didn't have one formal banking qualification,
so to ease his pain, Joe public and the man in the street can stick a few extra hours in to pay him £13,000+ per week to sit doing exactly what he likes,
I just hope he manages to spare the odd minute now and again to think of poor old....

Cllr Doreen Jones
I see from another website that Cllr Doreen Jones from Cilfew would like to know who you are.
May I suggest that you invite her to join you on a slow boat to China, as I understand that she rather likes cruises.

It might be OK Tommy, but only if I thought I would be safe. Some women go to a lot of trouble to discover a person's identity? Anyway, If she did manage to arrive in China. They may not let her come back again? Hooray!
I wonder. Can Cruises be claimed for on a councillor's expenses??? I mean a lot of them claim for just about everything else?
Although, on second thoughts, a nice cruise might go a long way to break up the winter months. On my last cruise which was in the Med, I made a lot of friends on board the M.V. Oriana. I suppose the same thing could happen on a nice Carribean cruise? The oral stimulation would help make the cruise very enjoyable!!

Council Expenses
We've heard about MP's expenes and know what pay they are getting and the same goes for AM's whose expenses are being published this week, but how about local councillors and expenses incurred by officials?
It seems that they are hiding behind the Data Protection Act.
I may be wrong, or misinformed, but surely the relatively new Freedom of Information Act should enlighten us as to where the tax payers money is going?
To look at it another way, what applies to MP's and AM's
should surely apply lower down the scale at local level?
We want a more open and transparent society - and one where individuals cannot bump up their expenes to make some extra cash, and make it look as although they have done nothing wrong at the same time.

I agree with you all the way Ted. I can only advise you to write in to the clerk of the council Ken Sawyers and complain. But will he take any notice?
Your guess is as good as mine mate?
Thanks for your comments. They are appreciated.
