Ayling William Ayling was my mother's, mother's,mother's brother. Margaret Ayling travelled to Canada with her sister Elizabeth, settling in Toronto. She married John Robertson and had six children, the oldest being my maternal grandmother. Posted by Lorraine Dennis on 11 November 2010 andrew vass Andrew is well remembered, good. Andrew was my granfather's brother (Alexander) they lived in Glasgow together prior to Andrew heading off to Canada with his young family. He returned shortly afterwards to fight in WW1 leaving his family in Canada. Posted by jack on 30 November 2008 Pte Andrew Vass Hello, I am looking into my family history. An Andrew Vass was married to my grandmother. After he was killed in WW1, my grandfather married his widow, my grandmother. I am wondering if this Andrew Vass was married in Canada. This is the first lead I`ve found that could be a relation. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Posted by Bev on 25 November 2008 Cawdor Heritage Group would be a good place to try as they have more information on the Memorial Cairn. Posted by Des on 30 November 2008 Andrew and Simon Vass Simon Vass, of Newton of Budgate was my Grandfather and Andrew his older brother. I am the youngest child of Simon's youngest (Alistair). It has been good to see Great Uncle Andrew's memory is not forgotten by those of his community. Simon, of course, survived the Great War and also contributed to the Second War by being a member of SOE and training operatives. I can confirm that his brother Andrew was married in Canada and had land in Saskatchewan. I also wish to correct an error in my cousin's posting of November last year. Alister was not the youngest child. He was the middle child. My mother, Jean, was the youngest, and still lives in Nairn. Should you wish to contact me about the family history, please do not hesitate. Posted by Garry Stork on 11 June 2009 | ||
