Last April and May, Bob MacFarlane, Scottish Cycling’s Regional Development Coach and I, ‘floated’ the idea of setting up a mountain bike club within the Culloden area.
Following two meetings, we ran three taster sessions on the community pitch adjacent to Balloch Primary School and in the local woods, where riders from three of the primary schools in the area attended, alongside S1 and S2 pupils from Culloden Academy.
The club is going from strength to strength with a newly formed committee, plans to lead further rides in the local woods, the opportunity for adults to gain their Trail Cycle Leader award and the opportunity, next year, to enter some races, organised by Scottish Cycling.
We really want to encourage riders from all the local schools to get involved, so we are holding two further coaching evenings, as follows:
· Tuesday 20 September and Tuesday 4 October;
· Session for P6-7 running 1600-1730 hrs.;
· Session for S1-3 running 1730-1900 hrs.;
· Sessions will start at the community pitch adjacent to Balloch Primary School;
· The cost of each session will be £3.
If you attended the sessions last June, there is no need to complete a new ‘Registration and Parental Consent’ form, however, please make us aware of any changes since last June, especially emergency contact details. Otherwise, please request a form from me and bring it, completed, to the session on 20 September.
As we anticipate a great deal of interest in the sessions, please email me at the address below, to reserve your place.
