Please feel free to leave comments about any work on our outdoor music trail. If you have any questions or ideas for development we welcome your comments. Also if you have any lesson ideas for ways to use outdoor music trails with children of all ages we would greatly appreciate any contribution that can be added to our lesson activities section.

Future Music Trail
Everyone at Mill Hill Primary School is really looking forward to our new Music Trail. The children really enjoyed the fundraising event to collect the necessary finances - dressing up as a favourite pop star or singer was great fun! The music trail will be a very valuable addition to the resources at the school which support the child led learning which goes on here.

Music trail
The music trail looks great! It was very interesting to spend a morning working through the requirements of the trail as it gave me the chance to bounce some ideas off you to format my own ideas. I really like the mixture of materials you finally decided on. Plus your concern for budgeting showed a realistic assessment of the sort of limitations many schools experience.Since talking to you I have had lots of fun experimenting with a range of different materials to make sounds and tunes. Good luck with your future plans.

Thank you, we are very proud of what we managed to achieve within budget. We worked very hard to ensure the children could have a fantastic trail which would promote learning but was also financially viable.

We are pleased to see we have further inspired your ideas....We are certain we learnt a lot from our time with you.

We hope to continue to integrate the ideas you showed us into our first year of teaching and far beyond!

Thanks for all your help with the project.

Tash and the team.

A wonderful resource for child led learning
At Mill Hill Primary School, we are developing a child led approach to all learning. Interesting, original and engaging resources are key to this way of working. The music trail looks as if it is just such a resource. The children will be able to use it independently or by working together I am delighted that we are to benefit from a similar music trail at our school and I know that it is going to be extensively used by all year groups

Thank you for visiting our website. We look forward to coming back to your school and helping to develop the trail in your school. We have the list of ideas which your children have suggested they would like in their trail, if you would like to add this please don't hesitate to contact us.

Wonderful Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for the children as it's contrary to the rudimentary based exercises implemented in early music practice. It shares similarities with musicians the likes of James Jamerson who found his inspiration at a young age playing an elastic band on the side of his house. I like how the trial appears to focus much more on the general inspiration and enthusiasm towards music, a subject which is both culturally significant and an academic release, something which is vital to all age ranges. The focus of a practical ensemble gives the common goal of a musicians works a realistic and achievable context from such an early stand point. Finally, the concept of using recycled objects personalises the instrument to each individual child, presenting the opportunity to start from scratch and create something now. The children could perhaps be enthused to find new and unique ways to play the instruments, to not only distinguish between pitch, but tone also. Having been given the chance to interpret the music a recite allows the freedom for the child's personality to be reflective in their performance, something which could be significant in all schools.

Thank you for your inspirational words related to our music trail. We really feel you have captured the image of what we have strived to achieve throughout this project. Our aim was to insure that children are provided with opportunities for creativity and exploration through the different ensemble that this musical instrument offers.

Please do keep in touch, and visit for website for regular updates.
