12 March 2014Campbeltown Loch Marina

Known officially as the 'Campbeltown Berthing Facility', plans are now well advanced for the further development of the existing pontoon in the loch. The planning application was submitted last year and the project is now at the full technical specification and detailed business planning stage.

If you are interested in finding out more then come along to the final open day on Friday 28 March 2014 in the Town Hall in Campbeltown between 11.00am and 5.00pm. This is your chance to engage with the project team as they finalise the design and business plan.

23 February 2014Quiz Night 2014

quiz night february 2014It was a full clubhouse last night for the annual club quiz with Campbeltown Sailing Club and Kintyre Canoe Club members packed in tight bringing warmth on a windy night. Questions covered a wide range of subjects so that everyone had a good shot at getting them right although in the end it proved that nothing can surpass a good education (or a retentive memory for obscure facts).

The winning team, with 62 questions answered correctly (out of 85), called itself 'The Workers' and included Campbell and Alison Fox who had prepared most of the food and done a lot of the organising for the event. quiz winnersAnd since we had all enjoyed our fill of the spicy chilli or the macaroni cheese it seemed only fitting that they should walk away with the prizes. This picture shows Sid Gallagher presenting the prizes.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the evening such a great success.

13 February 2014Club Racing in 2014

This is the year the Commonwealth Games comes to Scotland, a good omen therefore for our own club racing. We hope to be able to broaden our appeal this year by encouraging dinghy sailors onto the loch alongside our keelboats and the programme of evening and weekend races drawn up by Owen McManus will give plenty of opportunity for this. With our own rescue boat on hand to provide safety cover we hope to see the Games year as a turning point for the Campbeltown Sailing Club.
