This competition was designed to attract players from further afield to our club. We only have 4 pistes. That means that we can only have a limited number of entries and therefore only a very small prize fund. It usually means that winners end up with a bottle of wine or a prize equivalent to their entry fee. This is great for local teams but means we do not get many visitors.

SoaB is a ruthless competition. You are likely to only get 3 or 4 games. You may be going home sooner than you would like. There are no plate competitions. There is no prize for third or even second place. The whole competition is geared up to get the best two teams to a final and then to award 1 prize only to the winner. Son of a B*tch!

I made the excel sheets years ago but I think the score sheet was based on a sheet that lovelly Alan Newland gave me. Paul M

Melees are a great fun way of playing boules. The competitions are designed so that you can play with any number of players. You will play against and with different people in every round. You will find, here, we have some basic instructions for running a melee. Melee sheets which randomise the people you are playing with and against (also including a simple results sheet). A detailed results sheet and an excel file that will do some of the maths for you (Instructions on the sheets use are included in the excel file)

When we played our recent comps we had the result sheets enlarged and selotaped to a table. We printed these sheets out and cropped the left edge of each so that they lined up and gave everyone a good view of where they were and what they needed to do.

 RESOURCE SET 4 SNAKE AND ROUND ROBIN
These sheets are A4 printouts that can be put on the table so that everyone can see who they are playing in each round. They are Round Robin sheets but if you want to run a 6 game snake, for example, then delete the games after this round. The Round Robin sheets can be used with the large results sheets above or the Melee results sheet. The sheets are for four pistes (The 10 team sheet is there because you could have 9 teams with one team always having a bye.)
