CWUHA
Communication Workers Union Humanitarian Aid is a response to the plight of vulnerable children in other countries and the UK & Ireland from trade unionists, families and friends, who work in Britain’s and Ireland’s postal, telecom & financial industries. HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN? CWUHA was set up in 1995 in response to an appeal from trade unionists living in War torn Bosnia, in particular the town of Tuzla. The first convoy arrived in Tuzla in July 1995. The determination to deliver the aid direct to those who needed it most, cutting out the risk of it falling into the hands of self-interest middlemen, set the agenda for every CWUHA convoy that was to follow.

Middlesbrough Mela
Middlesbrough Mela is celebrating its 22nd year in 2012 For this year, the Middlesbrough’s Mega Mela! Weekend, a two day event is proud to announce it will be taking place on Saturday & Sunday 14 – 15th July 2012 Albert Park, Middlesbrough With extended times on Saturday from midday to 7.00pm and Sunday midday to 7.00pm The event started in the town centre in 1991 and soon outgrew the venue and made a very positive move to Albert Park, right in the heart of the BEM community. The park has been the recipient of Heritage Lottery funding to restore it to its former glory and the event benefits from the spectacular back drop. We regularly get up to 30,000 visitors and even in the last few years with torrential rain the event attracted 27,000 people. Middlesbrough Mela is notoriously a completely trouble free event. The event runs from 12 noon until 7 pm. The audiences are growing year on year.

The Museum itself is currently undergoing an exciting major redevelopment to restore and refurbish the original building, whilst a complete re-display will showcase the Museum's varied collection. To enable these works, the Museum is now closed, but will reopen in Summer 2012 with all three phases of the ambitious £6.6million redevelopment complete.
