Play Day arranged for Friday 29th August 08
2.00pm till 3.30pm
The Wigan Play 'in Out team are going to stage another play day in Braithwaite park during the school summer holidays. Watch this space to find out when!
Other News
- We are continuing to work closely with the play Sub-group of the Township forum to update the play area on Braithwaite Road. Hopefully there will be more news to follow on this shortly.
- Our next priority for cleaning up is the open space behind Whinchat Close. This area has huge potential, and it would be great to see it being used as recreational ground by residents once again.
- We are hoping to plant yet more bulbs and wildflowers around the open space
- The ponds in the open space need clearing out and boardwalks will be built around some of them
- The fish is in the water! and we've had some positive feedback from residents:
"I'd just like to say how impressed I have been with the park over the past few months. The recent tidying up and planting has really improved the state of the place and I love the fish sculpture!
It was a good decision to let the whole open space grow freely - it has the feel of a wild flower meadow. The buttercups are really bright and my dog loves racing about through the tall grass.
Thank you so much for looking after the place so well and, when the next open day comes along, I'll try to make it down to lend a hand."
Mike Amberry, local resident
