Trump’s Banned Words…….

Friend Bart. is a poet….

He and his poetry group choose prompts for composition.  I emailed Bart….

“I have a prompt for you….

Construct a poem based on Trump’s  Banned Words.”

He replied….

“There are so many banned words in Trump's America that I don't think it'd be much of a challenge.”

I then Googled to find a list of the banned words, which beggars belief…

I answered Bart, thus….

“Your response re. the banned words prompted me to write this ….

Trump’s Banned Words

 Climate change doesn’t exist

So now neither do the words

Diversity doesn’t exist

So now neither does the word

Equality doesn’t exist

So now neither does the word

Inclusiveness doesn’t exist

So now neither does the word

Minorities don’t exist

So now neither does the word

Racism doesn’t exist

So now neither does the word

Sex doesn’t exist

So now neither does the word.

Hard to tell the true from the untrue.

And we wonder why the young are confused.

As you can see, I just picked a few of the more unreal ones.  The word Sex is banned - without sex – no humans.”

As with The Lost Words…..

….keep on using them - keep them, and the meanings they contain, alive.

Song of the Cedars

A Conversation with Giuliana Furci, Robert Macfarlane, César Rodríguez-Garavito, and Cosmo Sheldrake

Los Cedros cloud forest in Ecuador is an orchestra of toucan barbet calls, cicada strings, and leaf chatter. In 2022, during a field trip there, mycologist Giuliana Furci, author Robert Macfarlane, legal scholar and More Than Human (MOTH) Life Collective founder César Rodríguez-Garavito, and musician Cosmo Sheldrake wrote and recorded “Song of the Cedars”—a composition made not just in the forest, but in conscious collaboration with it. Rich with field recordings of Los Cedros’ soundscape and the track's polyphony of human and more-than-human melodies, this conversation between the foursome explores their ongoing effort to gain legal recognition of Los Cedros as co-creator of the song, which if successful, will be a world first. Listen to what true creative reciprocity with the Earth can sound like.”

“That song came into being in that place and time, and absolutely, to us, incontrovertibly, with the cloud forest, and all of its inhabitants—its rivers, its fungi, its birds, its creatures, its mist, its histories, its possible futures—as our co-author, as the co-creator of that song.”

—Robert Macfarlane
