The Dream Team……
We went to the Balfour for a routine visit and, in the foyer, came across representatives of the Youth and Family Engagement Team with a display showing what they and associated organizations can offer to help with education and work prospects for Orkney folk…..
They were very friendly and explained their role. I’ll quote from their information leaflet…..
“The Youth and Family Engagement Team is managed by Orkney Islands Council Community Learning, Development and Employability (CLDE) – Youth Services Team and will use CLDE/Youth Work approach in working with children, young people and their families……
Each support package will be confidential, bespoke and focused on your needs and circumstances…..
The team can also work within schools in Orkney….
Enquiries are welcome from families, schools, and anyone who thinks we may be able to help.
If you would like further information or have any questions or feedback about the team, please do not hesitate to email us on…..
The Team also had information about The Learning Link and other services…..
“The Leaning Link is a free service which is dedicated to helping adults gain new skills and increase their self-confidence….
If you want to brush up on your reading or writing skills, improve your numeracy skills, increase your digital skills, learn how to use the Internet safely or improve your speaking and understanding of the English language, then get in touch..…”

“The CLD Employability Support Team can offer personalised one-to-one and group work support to people who are looking to increase their confidence, knowledge and skills in various areas and progress towards learning, training or employment….”

And finally – an on-line guide to local help and how to get it…
They’re the Dream Team – and they can improve your reality!
