 From Kilmorack Gallery….

“We have a wonderfully full gallery at the moment with work by Christopher Wood, Peter Davis, Lizzie Rose and Patricia Shone in a quartet of exhibitions. We also have just received illona Morrice's latest two sculpted heads, of Channel 4 news reader Cathy Newman and a 'sad woman' fountain. We hope you like them.

We will announce news of our April exhibitions shortly.

iLLONA MORRICE

two new heads

Always with a twist of humour, illona Morrice's work is instantly recognisable. We are pleased to share with you her latest two works.
Just arrived.

CHRISTOPHER WOOD

Ancient Songs

Christopher Wood RSW achieves something remarkable. Colours and abstract marks coalesce into recognisable instances - all made more powerful by the poetic language of abstraction.

14th March - 12 April

PETER DAVIS RSW

New Work

Peter Davis' approach, with its methodology and experimentation, is both scientific and artistic, but it is the artistry that we remember most with work that makes Davis one of the most innovative masters of watercolour anywhere.

14th March - 12 April

LIZZIE ROSE

Above and Below

Drawings have an immediacy and can connect the thinking mind with the tangible world. This is Lizzie Rose's secret. Her world is a connected one - where oak roots join air and sea reaches to meet the sky.

14th March - 12 April

PATRICIA SHONE

Forest Vessels

Patricia Shone is one of the finest ceramic artists anywhere and we are pleased to share with you seven new vessels.

14th March - 12 April

From The Orkney International Science Festival…..

“Spring greetings!

We’ve been working hard through the winter and this year’s Festival programme has been taking shape well and will soon be complete.

Through recent months we’ve also been working on new developments, particularly Sufficient Orkney Food where gardener Ed Bollom has made an early visit to gardening groups in Westray, North Ronaldsay, Stromness and Kirkwall, and he’s posted much detailed information on the new food website. You can find out about growing your own vegetables, improving the soil with compost and inorganic material, selecting seeds suitable for northern gardens, and also our new rock dust trials, which this year are with carrots and including Orkney quarry dust.

https://sufficientorkneyfood.co.uk/

Also, in our YouTube channel you can find some more of the recordings from last year’s festival, including Prof. Jim Wilson on results of the Viking Genes studies, Ian Taylor on the potential of offshore wind, Dr Tim Noble on the story of The Councils, the Parliament and the Black, Black Oil, and Prof. Graham Machin on the remarkable life of Lord Kelvin. You can also hear a remarkable insight into the power of music for people living with dementia from Diana Kerr.

Hoping that you will have some fine spring sunshine wherever you are, with very best wishes from the Festival team!”
