Will make contact Hi Ken, Bumped into one of your volunteers last Saturday as he cut back bracken etc from the stream. He was very helpful in explaining what your group is about and I hope to make contact at your convenience. I know the area pretty well and spend a lot of summer days following paths that lead from Herrington Burn over to Durham Cricket Club. Best regards, Mark (New Herrington). Ken Clark. jkclark2012@live.co.uk Posted by Ken Clark on 08 December 2012 dead kingfisher Last week on a walk through the woods I spotted what appeared to be a kingfisher in the Burn about a quater of a mile downstream of the Floaters bridge.A quick trip home for a pair of waders and someone to watch my back as the water was well up and it was confirmed as a dead bird. Seems to be a young bird possibly this years. The good news is that our regular Kingfishers were duly found further downstream and seem to be doing really well. James now has a couple of Kingfisher feathers in his bird book. Posted by steve scott on 16 July 2012 tree planting My son James (age 3) today planted 6 saplings down the plantation. We collected the seeds in the autumn and planted them out. Today 3 oak and 3 horse chestnut joined the rest of the young trees down there. Hopefully in a few years James will be taking his children down to collect conkers and acorns from these trees.
