CULLODEN MEMORIAL
The morning was chilly with heavy cloud but that didn`t stop throngs of people attending the service to pay their respect to the many that fell on the battlefield that terrible day 266 years ago. Tartan clad groups armed with weapons and flags snaked their way across the moor following a piper playing a haunting tune in the cold breeze. A sombre mood fell over the crowd as the service progressed making it a day to remember all who had suffered and still suffer to this day. Later the heavy sleet and snow battered those who braved the weather to lay wreaths and say a few private words at various spots on the moor. It was a very moving day and we appreciate the fact that so many travelled large distances to take part in such an important event in the history of Scotland.
