Thirteenth lunar month of central heating

Thirteenth Month (7/8/14-3/09/14)
If you are a newcomer to this blog, it might be best to begin by reading earlier instalments of the blog, perhaps starting from "Why we installed a Smart".
Total kg pellets used | 372kg |
Average daily kg (days in residence) | 13.78kg |
Metered kilowatt hours to central heating/hot water | 865kwh |
Gross kilowatt hour value of pellets | 1785.6kwh |
Space heating (calculated) | 471.42kwh |
Efficiency (based on measured input, metered output to central heating and calculated space heating) | 75% |
Cost of pellets | £78.12 |
Potential RHI subsidy | £126.64 |
During this month, we were away for one day, so the average consumption per day has been calculated for twenty seven days for the lunar month. The weather was unusually bad for August so we often had the Smart on for much of the evening for central heating, not just to heat our water and cook our evening meal. We had it set at a maximum output level of 3. Please note that the model which I used to calculate the space heating was developed for winter months, and thus the calculated efficiency rating for this month may be too low. However, during this month some of the heating output was perhaps not necessary (albeit in the north of Scotland it sometimes helps to keep evening chill away), so it is not altogether misleading for a low efficiency rating to be recorded.
Please read the notes on the fifth month which explain how space heating and efficiency are calculated
