The isle of Eigg Craftshop
- Original and hand-made island gifts-
A trip to the Isle of Eigg would not be complete without a visit to the isle of Eigg Craftshop, the island's crafters and makers' cooperative. It is situated in the Pier Centre, right where you land on the island, next to the Eigg shop & Post office and Galmisdale Bay cafe.
There you will find a little bit of Eigg to take back with you, the Eigg mug or the Eigg T-shirt, a pot of home-made jam, a hand-made soap, a packet of edible seaweed harvested on the shore or bluebell seed harvested on the croft.
Books and guides
To inform your visit, we have books and guides about the island, its history and incredible geology.
You can also purchase the postcard maps featuring the 5 most popular island walks with a map of the island and a guide to places of interest. Our volunteer staff will be happy to advise on destinations and things to see and do!
Original artwork and cards galore
The Eigg landscape has inspired many artists on the island and beyond. Photography, watercolour, pastel, oil, felt, etchings, there is a wide variety of original artwork to suit all tastes and purses.
And there are many, many original cards to send or to keep.
Woolly hats and jumpers
If the weather is on the chilly side, you will find a variety of cosy woollens hats, headbands and socks hand-knitted by local makers or jumpers and scarves made in Ireland out of soft Donegal tweed by our excellent supplier, Ireland's eye.
There is much more to see and discover
We have a great selection of music CDs from all the great trad bands that come to play on the island: you don't get any better!
We have beautiful or funky jewellery, bags of all shapes, colours and material and many original trinkets made on Eigg or by crafters in the Highlands and Islands.
You will also find a selection of very fine willow baskets made on Eigg by All about Willow.
For children, we have fish nets, crab buckets and kites, plenty of picture books and lovely soft otters produced by the Otter Sanctuary on neighbouring island of Skye.
We even have our own bespoke and very effective Midge net hats!
