A painter and musician, I began writing a journal while travelling on the magical Greek island of Crete, together with my late husband and soul-mate, Rin. And Basil the Cretan dog.
I was lucky enough to be part of various exciting arts and music events there, performing at the first Earth Dance at Kato Zakros and the newly re-imagined Matala Festival, among others. Colour, light and mountains of gargantuan proportions, there was much to inspireā¦
My journal of that time, Makria, Makria (Far, Far) is yet to be finished - perhaps never will be - as my life was to change irrevocably after our return to the 'Old Country.'
My obsession with writing stories began with an incident on a 19A bus. Leading to more, short and longer; also songs - and a whole lot of poetry.
I now live, paint and write out in the Styx, in sight of the lovely Lomond Hills; with partner Andy and Basil the dog.
For myself, both writing and visual art is inspired by themes of transformation and renewal: the lost and found, memory, myth and the powerful forces of nature. Most often, the ancient, enduring forms of the Scottish mountains and ever-changing waters, where I love to walk. A favourite is the Ettrick River and the very special Ettrick Valley.
