Welcome to Wollaton Natural History Society

The Society exists to promote the study and appreciation of the natural world by arranging regular illustrated talks, guided walks, recording and publications.

The programme of indoor illustrated talks by guest speakers, takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of the month starting at 7.30pm at St Leonards Community Centre, Bramcote Lane, Wollaton. NG8 2ND (Opposite Wollaton library).

NEXT INDOOR MEETING:

Wednesday 16^th April - The Wildlife of Costa Rica

- Max & Christine Maughan present an up to-date Talk on birds and wildlife seen during their most recent visit to that country in 2023.

Meetings are held inside St Leonards Community Hall.

NEXT GUIDED WALK:

Thursday 1st May, Middleton Lakes RSPB Reserve led by Chris Preston & Kevin Marriott, looking for birds, butterflies and Spring flowers.

Please meet in the RSPB Car Park at 10.00 am ready for a 10.15 departure.

Middleton Lakes, Bodymoor Heath, Staffs. B78 2BB.

Parking is £4 per car. RSPB Members park for free with tickets being displayed in the windscreens.

Please wear stout footwear. Bring binoculars (if you have them) and a drink/snack.

There is a cafe and toilets situated in the courtyard.

The walk is expected to last around 3 hours.

The habitat at Middleton Lakes is: Woodland, wet grassland, reedbed, freshwater bodies, riverine & scrub, which hopefully will bring a good variety of birds. The terrain is generally flat and the walking is easy.

Free for members, visitors £3.

MEMBERSHIP: £16 annually, payable in January, join on the door.

Pro rata after March.

VISITORS are always welcome: £3.00 per meeting, £3 for walks.

At meetings there is a charge of £1 for refreshments during the break.
