Welcome to an old country craft

Organised winemaking started in Scotland in 1957 with the founding of Helensburgh Wine Circle. Since then there have been many Circles (clubs) formed, and many fallen by the wayside but all is not gloom, as we have a strong nucleus of interested and highly experienced winemakers in the West of Scotland who are very willing to impart their knowledge.

While winemaking is an old country craft, there has been some science added, making the end product a good match for its commercial equivalent. We also make wines that have no commercial equivalent.

The craft of winemaking is not only enjoyable but is also healthy. The health benefits of red wine have been well publicised but it is not so well known that many of the fruits that we use contain anticarcinogenic properties. Many of the fruits that we use also contain a high percentage of anthocyanins, which help in the fight against free radicals. Yes, alcohol can be good for your health, the abuse of it is where the problem lies.

If you live in the west of Scotland and are interested in a healthy hobby we would like to hear from you. If you live in any other part of the planet we would also like to hear from you. Try our feedback page - and drink responsibly.
