Welcome to Warden Park School

Community Garden & Allotment project

The aim of this project is to encourage both the school community of students, staff and families as well as the wider Cuckfield and Haywards Heath communities to get involved with the ever growing (pardon the pun!) of "grow your own fruit, Veg and flowers" that is sweeping the UK.

In conjunction with a School liasons, a committee of plot holder members and volunteer parents alongside members of local group " Cuckfield Local" we hope to encourage young and old to get their hands dirty and enjoy the pleasures of gardening and grow your own.

With a shortage of allotments plot available to the public this project hopes to allow experienced and novice gardeners have their own small plot of growing space.

By using up an area of relatively unused school grounds we have built an area of allotment plots, an orchard, student plots, community garden and a planned wildlife pond for future use of the projects members and the school.

The goal is to encourage the school community to use the site in future curriculum classes as well as free up local council waiting lists of those people wanting to have allotment plots.

A short message below from Head Teacher Mr Steve Johnson:

“I’m delighted to welcome all gardeners to Warden Park. Our maxim at Warden Park is “The Best From All” and gardening has certainly brought out the best in some of our students as well as introducing them to a lifelong interest.  We are lucky to have such extensive grounds and everyone can draw inspiration from the lovely views we have over the Sussex countryside. It has been a pleasure to be able to set aside a small area of our grounds for the community gardens and I hope that they will be well used by everyone. “

Best wishes, Steve Johnson. Head Teacher
