For some time I have felt that I wanted to record my life, ordinary though it maybe, so here it is. Ever since I`ve had my computer, and have seen what is on the web I thought I might as well tell my story on the web. I have used links to cover some aspects in more detail with pictures and backgrounds to make it all more interesting because this all fascinates me. Maybe and hopefully this will be read and I will be contacted by an interested surfer.

I was born in Essex before World War II, my mother being of Essex farming stock and my father was a heating engineer from York, though during W.W.II he worked on aircraft, but after the war returned to his original trade.

My early interest in aircraft and then onto varied engineering work must come from my father. The interests and abilities in D.I.Y. inside and outside the home are gained from both my mother and father. The gaining of diverse knowledge from my changing employment over the years, and further interests during those passing years, have widened and enhanced the abilities of my inheritance. Marriage and children have also enriched my life, but the formative times were during my military service and early years of civilian life at work.

Going outside the U.K., in the years when not so many people left our shores as they do now, rewarded me with memorable experiences to look back on, thanks to the army, and my holidays, which, together, have taken me to parts of Europe, the Mediterranean, East Africa and the Gulf. Earlier generations of my family on my mothers` side are spread around the world, from Canada in one direction, to New Zealand in the other. On my father`s side there are deep roots in Yorkshire. I am an Essex Man!!

I shall of course update this site from time to time as I draw on my memories and as I think of some other aspect of my life that I would like to publish. In the mean time, if any one out there would like to contact me, or talk about any thing on this my web site, please do so at r.gladin@ntlworld.com and I will happily get back to you to talk or argue or reminisce or what ever.

At this date, January 2003, I have not published any links, but I will name them here, to use as and when they are available.
