What's 'Wikaniko'?
I'm glad you asked...
'Wikaniko' - pronounced 'We can eco' - see what they did there? Clever! - is a UK family business.
Wikaniko care about the fact that modern life seems to be smothering our lovely planet with plastic and chemicals - damaging our own bodies, and the very environment we live in.
Going all-out green is difficult, confusing - and for most people, not all that practical for every day living. Wikaniko want to make it easy just to take a few steps towards going a little bit greener...
Just one small step for each of us can, together, make a giant leap for mankind!
Wikaniko supply eco friendly domestic products and toiletries to local households. And help people to learn about exactly what the problems are...
And the small changes we can all make to help make it better.
Why it matters?
Some of Wikaniko's most popular household products are totally degradable plastic bags for bins, food, nappies, dog poop, and all your household waste.
'Degradable' bags are bags that decompose over time. Wikaniko's household bags decompose within 2 years.
The plastic in non-degradable bags lasts forever - and this is what happens...

I was totally shocked and saddened when I learned about this - and vowed to immediately start using totally degradable bags, instead of non-degradable ones...
Incidentally - totally degradable bags are different than the more usual 'bio-degradable' bags you hear about - which need certain biological conditions to degrade in. Which may or may not exist in the location where they end up.
