Welcome to Trisha's Tiers!

Thank you for coming to look at my site!

Work in progress!!

I have been making cakes ever since I can remember. I do not profess to be an expert - I just enjoy it and do them for fun!

Not only did I bake with my mum but also with my nan who made Wedding Cakes for a bakery! The best times I remember of my childhood is sitting with my nan for hours in the school holidays playing with icing nozzles and cake ends - she never moaned when each day her flat was left looking like a bomb site! Good times!!

I have always turned to baking when I'm bored or fed up, but I have only done them for the family until very recently! Originally I made chocolates when I was bored as well as easter eggs for my children and family, it was also great to do easter egg hunts when the were little for them and their friends. Really time consuming but great for gifts!

Since moving a couple of years ago, my neighbours and friends have seen what I do or if money has been short I have made a cake as our gift. People have since started to ask me to make cakes for them and it has grown ever since!

You will notice when you look through the galleries on this site that there is one common theme. Size! Ever since I have made cakes, if I am making the effort of baking one, I am just incapable of making it small!

Up until last year, I was a coward and only ever stayed within my comfort zone and made flower or coloured cakes never themed cakes as I just didnt feel capable. I was begged to do a cake and was told 'just try your best!' so I did and now LOVE the challenge of going further!

I began making Birthday Cakes primarily due to cost.  One year on my son's birthday, we didn't have much spare cash but I bought a small castle cake from a local 'high quality' supermarket for £45. It was a lot of money for the size but I wanted something special. When we got home and looked at it, the flags had all broke on the turrets and the cake itself tasted dry and horrible! since then I vowed I would never do that again and if I wanted a cake I would make it myself.

I made a Castle cake for my son a couple of years later in place of the one we had bought. This one had battlements that lit up. Must admit went slightly over the top - it was nearly 30" square. Each tower was made up of 6 whole 8" round cakes - and there was 4 towers! needless to say neighbours and friends did well that week, it was given away to everyone.

I still think the best thing about making these cakes is seeing the look on people's faces when they come and collect them. Especially when they have left me the choice of what to do. Seeing that is worth all the time and effort thats been taken!

Anyway, way too much chat, I would ask that if I have made you a cake before it would be appreciated if you would take the time to leave feedback in the Guestbook, just please be gentle!!
