"For we are the people of England, that never has spoken yet."
G.K. CHESTERTON

.

The Tone Action Group was set up 18 months ago to
fight development on the North side of the River
Tone between Tonedale and Runnington.

South West Properties Limited (SWPL), a Guernsey registered company with no identifiable individual directors, has acquired control of up to 20 hectares of open countryside located either side of Milverton Road north of the River Tone, and between the northern edge of Wellington and the settlements of Runnington and Langford Budville.

18 months ago they applied for planning permission to build a garden centre on the Eastern side of the Milverton Road on a 3 hectare site, an application which was subsequently approved by Taunton Deane Planning Committee. The same company has now submitted the next phase of the application, a proposal to build 244 houses on the Western side of the Milverton Road, right opposite the garden centre. This planning application is opposed by
many local residents of Tonedale, Runnington and Langford Budville and has so far been unanimously opposed by both Langford Budville and Milverton Parish Councils.

There will of course never be a garden centre built on the Eastern side of the road, SWPL purely applying for this initial phase to get the principle of development established. One can therefore be certain that if the application for the 244 houses succeeds then there will soon follow an application for change of use on the other side of the road and the proposed garden centre will miraculously morph into 100 or so more houses.

There are many sound reasons to oppose this development, so please make your feelings felt about this and write to Taunton Deane Planning
Department. Brief details of the planning
reasons why this application should be rejected
are listed to the left on the grounds for objection page, along with details of the application itself and where to send your letters of opposition.

COUNTRYSIDE BETWEEN TONEDALE AND RUNNINGTON
