About us

The Bill Russell Woodburn Youth Project (BRWYP) is a local youth drop in at the Midlothian Advice and Resource Centre (MARC). The project operates on a Saturday evening from 5-9pm and is aimed a youngsters aged 11-17.

The aim of the project is to provide a warm and friendly place where young people can hang out, engage with our experienced Youth Workers or partake in our wide range of fun activities. We believe the project achieves its purpose in providing a welcoming environment for young people to meet with their peers, to encourage social skills and develop social responsibility.

The BRWYP provides access to computers with internet safety training. There are a wide range of fun activities on offer such as Pool, Fussball, board games, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and many more.

Our youth workers interact with the young people offering encouragement and advice when requested. In Woodburn as an area of deprivation with a high level of anti social behaviour, we offer an alternative to hanging around the streets where youths are most vulnerable. By working with the young people we hope to develop self control, enhance self esteem, encourage a pride in themselves and their community.
