When travelling in a car one moves through the landscape in a suspended state of parenthesis, hovering between departure and destination isolated in a confined space. In company a long car journey tries the nerves as the windscreen- landscape ceaselessly shifts from one in-between space to another. Making a choice over a radio station becomes drama, conversation becomes trivial, and escape seems impossible. The artist captures the particular experience and behaviours of the car journey. Her investigation moves through performance, documentary, book making, slide projection and sculpture. Each form communicates of a different register of time, the expectation of a journey becomes temporality built of experience and tedium.
