Spanglefish Gold Status Expired 31/10/2009.

Welcome to the Stevenage Mini Soccer League website. The League started at the beginning of the 1999/2000 as the successor to the Stevenage Eights Friendly League which had been originally formed in 1959.

The League provides friendly football for boys and girls at Under 7, Under 8 and Under 9 with clubs from within a 5 mile radius of Stevenage.

League fixtures played during the season do not have a record kept of the result, but Sporting Mark points are awarded by the opposing managers and at the end of the season the team at each age group with the highest overall average mark receives a trophy.

In addition to Sporting Mark matches, the SMSL also organises 3 cup competitions for its member clubs. The League Cup is played for at U9 and U8 and sees the teams divided into 2 groups, each team in each group playing the other teams in their group on a league basis. Results are kept and the top teams move on to play knock-out semi-finals and finals.

During the Christmas holidays, member clubs are invited to enter teams into the Grix Cup, which is an indoor 5-a-side tournament held at the Stevenage Leisure Centre for U7, U8 and U9 teams.

At the end of the season, clubs are invited to enter teams into the Doug Atkins Cup, which is played for across all 3 age groups and is a traditional end of season 7-a-side competition.
