Remember what it felt like the first time you felt sand between your toes? Made dens in dappled sunshine in your local wood? Or tried paddling a canoe?
Well, thousands of children growing up in Scotland today have never experienced these things. They don’t learn about the real world through first hand experience; their knowledge is based on what is taught in a classroom, or on a computer.
The Real World Learning Partnership believes that "every child, regardless of their background, should have regular access to inspirational and challenging outdoor learning, where they can enjoy first hand experience of their cultural heritage and natural environment, as part of a full and complete childhood."
