About me

I am Parbati Dhungana from Kathmandu, Nepal.

I am a PhD research student who is in the process of writing a dissertation. I am also facilitating the Participatory Action Research course in M Phil class in Kathmandu University School of Education in the Department of STEAM education. In this teaching and learning process, I have been creating an aesthetic self-reflective space by integrating arts.

Using different forms of arts, I, in collaboration with my colleagues, have been reflecting methodological perspectives and practices joyfully.  I am in the process of becoming a living theorist influencing self, colleagues and educational practices of the schools and the universities by integrated multimedia with conventional text-based reflection practices.

My journey of creating my own living theory begins with Jackie’s mentorship that has come to the finalization of an article entitled- ‘Living love’: My living educational theory. My journey of ‘living love’ continues with integrating arts in the reflection process in my university class where almost all the co-learners are exploring artist within and thereby self-reflecting. I believe, in collaboration with a colleague, I am towards creating a safe space for adopting multi-media communication to explore the living values of the co-learners.

Being a PAR facilitator and a teacher educator, one of my major concerns was to participate all the co-learners actively, consciously and joyfully in the self-reflection process.  Therefore, living my value, ‘living love’ or being lovingly, I respected them and their teacher within (Palmer, 1997) by letting them choose their own way of self-reflection.

I’ve learnt to be more inclusive and participatory by respecting multiple forms of arts that integrated oral, written and arts-based reflection processes not privileging one over others...
