OAKWOOD STEELERS
WHO ARE WE ?:
We are OAKWOOD STEELERS - a brand new (May 2012) junior rugby league team.
WHY WERE WE SET UP ?:
We, the coaches, decided to set up a rugby league club as, due to us all being rugby coaches at a local school, we realised that there are a number of children who want to play rugby league outside of their school environment but who, due to one reason or another were unable to find a club to play for or who perhaps felt a little "intimidated" about joining an established club. Having recognised this need, we decided to establish a new club to fill the void.
WHERE ARE WE ?:
We are based in the Padgate area of Warrington and our home ground is "The Steel Plant" on Steel Street off Gorsey Lane and Orford Road (although there is no vehicular access from Orford Road)
TRAINING:
We train on Thursday evenings at Steel Street beginning at 6 p.m. until 7.15/7.30 p.m. - In the darker winter months we are planning to use Vida Sports on Long Lane.
OAKWOOD STEELERS OBJECTIVE STATEMENT:
We hope to instill into our training sessions some fun and enjoyment whilst also teaching the ethics of hard work, determination, team work and self discipline. We aim to provide competitive, organised rugby league for any children who want it without any prejudice or discrimination.
