Residentials Easter 2015
Berber Treks now provide exciting residentials in Morocco. Based in Tagleft in the Mid Atlas mountains we invite you to come and stay in the homes of the local Berber people. You will be split into groups with other particpants that you have not met before and will take part in everyday jobs of these friendly village people. You will also eat with these families and enjoy a few games of football. Come prepared to get stuck in and help improve these communities by sharing your knowledge, language skills and be willing to lend a helping hand. Activities on project depend upon your gender. Girls help with washing clothes, preparing meals, feeding cattle. Girls will also have the opportunity to dress up in the local costumes, makeup and have henna tattoos done. Boys help with cutting wood, building maintenance, fruit picking in the orchards and agriculture. Boys will also find that they will improve on their card playing skills! In the evening the participants stay together in a gite accommodation in the village and also have their breakfast and dinner together. The accommodation is basic dormitory style with hot and cold running water. It is comfortable but of course not 5 star! Participants are fully supervised whilst in Marrakesh and have the opportunity to visit the markets and palaces at de Jemna el Fna. We will also visit the Cascades d'Ouzoud on our return journey from the Berber village. This residential maybe able to count for your Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme. Please check with your DofE leader.
ITINERARY 3rd - 11th April 2015:
3rd April: Arrive at Marrakech airport, transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free in Marrakesh. Hotel included Meals at own expense
4th April: Travel to Ait Bougamez (5-6 hours) - gite, breakfast, lunch & dinner included
5th April: Residential - gite, breakfast, lunch & dinner included
6th April: Residential - gite, breakfast, lunch & dinner included
7th April: Residential - gite, breakfast, lunch & dinner included
8th April: Residential - gite, breakfast, lunch & dinner included
9th April: Residential - gite, breakfast, lunch & dinner included
10th April: Travel back to Marrakesh (5-6 hours) Visit the Cascades de Ouzoud enroute and have a picnic there - hotel, breakfast & lunch included
11th April: Breakfast included. Transfer to Marrakesh airport
