Welcome To My Hosta Website
I have been a keen collector of Hosta's for around 15 years I suppose and I'm quite proud of the collection that I've amassed over those years.
Unfortunately I thought I'd found a great way of of presenting my collection and about 4 years ago I re-dug my garden with moisture retentitive medium and laid black membrane over the whole of the garden and shingled over the top of this and then made a hole to plant through.
It wasnt until last year that I realised I was begining to lose some of my prize collection of plants. I have come to the conclusion that due to a lack of rain the Hosta's roots had started to grow upwards in search of moisture and had entwined in the cloth type membrane.
Just a few weeks ago my family and friends helped to remove the shingle and the membrane. The garden has now been re-dug and we've added more moisture rententitive medium also replacing the stock that had deteriorated.
The garden is back to square one again and we'll have to wait for a while for this to re-establish itself and hope that maybe in two years it will look as good as it did a few years ago?
If you have time to take a look around the website you'll see several pictures of some of the plants that I did have and lots more new ones that have just been added.
I hope that by recording my garden now and looking on in perhaps two years time you'll see a great difference?
