This sites aim is to help people like YOU learn all about how to live life healthily with a good enjoyable diet and have an active lifestyle!
So what is healthly? Weight is just a number!!!! An athletic person may be the same weight as a "plump" person but the athletic person is healthier because MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT. A BMI (body mass index) takes into account your Height, age and weight, it then calculates a number which gives an indication of whether you are "healthy" or not. A good BMI is between 18.5 and 25. In most cases if you are under or over this you are more suceptable to serious health risks (see other pages for more info), however there are some exceptions.
Everyone loves a treat! here there is some yummy srummy and healthier alternative snacks (listed on the other page) which don't compromise in taste, PLUS some fabulous RECIPIES for weight LOSS, weight GAIN, LOW SALT, LOW FAT and maintanance.
Additionally in todays culture issues such as low self esteem, unhappiness or depression can lead to extreme weight loss/weight gain and can lead to serious damaging eating disorders, there will be a section on this website which raises awareness of the consequences and symptoms to look for.They are not a joke.
Simple small changes such as getting off your bus one step early have massive impacts in the long run.
A Couple of points to clear up:
- "Diet" dosn't necessarily meaneating to lose weight, it means basically "what you eat" , so throughout the site be aware when I refere to "diet".
- Muscle weigs More than fat - so dont panic if your trying to loose weight by working out and at first end up putting on, you will be building muscle so you will look more toned and defind then the weight will start to fall off.
- You cant choose to become anorexic, if you say to some one "I'm gonna become anorexic" you are misusing the word, anorexia is a serious ILLNESS and much more complex than most people think- and to someone suffering from an eating disorder like anorexia it can be offensive, so be respective!
- KEEP MOTIVATED, whether its a trip out, a new dress, a football match or your family, have an aim, but at the end of the day for your life changes to be sustainable you have to do it for youself
