FoOL is a Registered Scottish Charity (No 020684), with the aim of stimulating public interest in and promoting support for the Oban Library.

FoOL is fully constituted, and consists of voluntary members from the public who want to help the library and its branches by enhancing its profile in the surrounding community and working to expand services via a variety of voluntary activities ranging from physical library improvements to educational help groups. The group is in no way a replacement of professional staff and responsibilities but exists to fill the voids that current staffing levels and budgets cannot presently serve.

The Lorn Area Librarian sits on the FoOL committee in an “ex-officio” position. The Oban Library is owned and funded by Argyll and Bute Council, please follow the link for the official library website.
