‘CAPELLO’S REVENGE!’

The shock defeat of England to Germany in the 2010 World Cup stunned everyone!

The pain and angst felt in England and Great Britain was overwhelming when the German team ran rings around the English players. Watching from the sidelines a certain Mr Fabio Cappello was seething with white-hot anger, his fists clenched and screaming at over 150 decibels in base Italian, almost perforating the eardrums of those around him!

The English legs looked wooden and maybe because of the possibly unnecessary altitude training that Mr Cappello had insisted on. If he had carried out just a little research then he would have found that this method of trying to increase the oxygenation of the players’ blood to altitude conditions was doomed to failure because the match was played at a much lower altitude. The effect was the tiredness seen compared with the German team who seemed to really enjoy the match.

Nobody can tell Mr Cappello anything as he is a law unto himself! What thoughts crossed his mind as the German players crashed their goals through? Would he murder his coaches?!

Would he take it out on his players?

The satirical answer is in a series of paintings by Chris Darko which are available as high-resolution prints(framed if required). The first, ‘Cappello’s Revenge’, in a strictly limited edition of 100 prints, is immediately available from our online shop.
