Billage and the woods of Wychbury
Young William Illage (known as Billage), descended from both Boudicea and King Arthur, discovers that he is endowed with extraordinary powers. Billage's family of Mum, Dad, irascible Granddad and mischievious brother Brian, begin and new life in Wychbury. Place names such as Devil's Elbow, Hangman's Cross and Coven Heath hold special significance in local folklore. At his new school Billage soon makes friends with Val, Penny, Cathy, Paddy and Fred (Four Eyes) Fowler. Local bullies, Nugger, Jiggins and Bert Slyne become his sworn enemies.

Billage accidentally opens the portal between two worlds, thus endangering his own world and bringing himself into conflict with the sinister denizen of the dark, malevolent other place other place with tragic results.

The outcome of the final battle in the Woods of Wychbury on Midsummer's eve is far from certain.

Letter to a Corpse
The body of Steven Fairchild is discovered in a seedy high rise flat. He had been stabbed through the heart and bizarrely posed in a wedding dress and veil. As DCI Pitt and DS Khunkhun investigate the man's past, his associates of a decade earlier also appear to be victims of the same killer. A message written in childlike script is always left with the bodies.

The fact that the men may have been involved in drug dealing and money laundering leads the officers to believe that the killings may be mafia related. However, as other facts emerge, Pitt has his doubts.

Reporters Scarlett Sixsmith and Jake Brown investigate a series of bizarre murders. All leads point to the hamlet of Swan Village on the banks of the Severn. Scarlett's idle browsing on the internet reveals a linkage between these slayings and the executions of seventeenth century witches.

When a mand in arrested and charged, the local police call an end to their investigation. The reporters believe there is more to be uncovered and Scarlett discovers the dreadful truth. In doing so she finds herself entrapped by a serial killer intent upon her death.
