SLRC - Skye and Lochalsh Running Club

SLRC - Skye and Lochalsh Running and Athletics Club to give it its full title - was formed in September 2002 with the express purpose of promoting running for enjoyment in our local area.

Club nights are held most Wednesdays, with runs being organised at various venues throughout the summer - check our Message Board page for details.  During the winter months members usually meet at 6pm at the Fingal Centre, in the Portree Community High school complex.  In addition members regularly travel to races elsewhere in the country, teaming up for shared lifts and mutual support. Nowadays this website is used mainly to highlight the club's existence with most members using Facebook to keep in touch, post information and make race results available. SLRC runs a popular winter series of races, open to all whether club members or not, which take place at a variety of venues around Skye and Lochalsh.  In addition a series of week-end runs, often off-road, are also organised on an ad-hoc basis.  Again information on these can be found on Facebook.
