Belchalwell is a small hamlet in North Dorset, a couple of miles West of Okeford Fitzpaine, which itself is about five miles West of Blandford Forum.
The hamlet comprises a handfull of houses, but it has an ancient charming small Church dedicated to St. Aldhelm; and the hamlet has a Suburb! Belchalwell Street is about a mile South, and comprises half a dozen houses - and a Methodist Chapel (now de-consecrated) with an accompanying Manse (now privately owned). A golf course was constructed a few years ago, but was not viable and was sold. The Clubhouse has been converted into a private house.
During the Second World War, there was a searchlight battery at a farm near the village.
